American Standard Television (ASTV) is building the first internet-based TV service that is able to compete in video quality, reliability, and scale with Cable and Satellite TV infrastructures. The company is developing proprietary technology that works with existing internet infrastructure companies to overcome problems with internet congestion when there is heavy traffic for video on demand or live sports and events. The technology team has previously built all the components required to operate an internet TV service and come out of Baseline Studio Systems,EdgeCast, Katalyst, MySpace, Napster, and Red Swoosh (acquired by Akamai). The company’s advisors and investors come from advertising, Cable TV, Hollywood, and technology companies. RedThorne will have a Beta release of its technology in March 2012 and plans to launch the service in the summer of 2012.
